Dr. Aristide Aplogan is in charge of field epidemiology and vaccinology in Africa. In this role, he oversees program implementation; provides input on strategic development; serves as technical director for all of AMP’s training programs; supervises, monitors, and evaluates studies and interventions; and manages regional teams. He joined AMP in 1997 as epidemiology training program coordinator. From 2000-2002, he was the technical coordinator of PATH’s Children Vaccine Program (CVP) in West Africa, implemented by AMP.
Since 2002, Dr. Aplogan has been responsible for managing the EPIVAC© program, a professional degree program for district-level medical officers in sub-Saharan Africa. He is part of the program steering committee and provides instruction for program participants.
Before joining AMP, Dr. Aplogan was an independent consultant in the areas of surveillance system evaluation; health program assessment, monitoring, and management; training in interventional epidemiology; and operational research.
Dr. Aplogan received his MD from the University of Lomé, Togo and his MPH in epidemiology from Bordeaux 2 University, France and a certificate from the Institute for the Development of Applied Epidemiology (IDEA) in Annecy, France.
