December 14, 2011

Thirty district medical officers from 10 Western and Central African countries graduated with a master’s degree as part of the EPIVAC program, which is developed and implemented by the Agence de Médecine Préventive (AMP).

The European master 2 in Economics and Management of Public Health in Developing Countries was awarded by the University of Paris-Dauphine in collaboration with the University of Cocody-Abidjan and AMP.

Results were announced on Wednesday November 30, 2011, at the Regional Institute of Public Health (Institut régional de santé publique - IRSP) in Ouidah, Benin.

In the two days prior, students had defended their operational research theses in front of an international jury of 19 international experts and representatives of universities. Their scores averaged between 11.97 and 15.34 out of 20.

The EPIVAC© (EPIdemiology & VACcinology) program aims to enhance immunization program performance in GAVI-eligible countries by strengthening the technical and managerial skills of district medical officers, and by providing technical support to French-speaking, sub-Saharan African countries.

The medical officers in this latest round came from Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, Senegal and Togo.
