3rd EPIVAC Technical Conference

The EPIVAC International Network (EPINET) is organizing the 3rd EPIVAC Technical Conference in collaboration with the Agence de Medecine Preventive (AMP). This event will take place on February 16-18, 2012, on the campus of the Regional Institute of Public Health (l’Institut Régional de Santé Publique - IRSP) in Ouidah, Benin.

The conference will tackle the increasing budgetary pressure on immunization programs in countries eligible for GAVI, caused by the continual introduction of new vaccines for much higher prices than traditional EPI vaccines. Its theme will be the "Sustainability and self-financing of immunization programs in sub-Saharan Africa: current situation and innovative perspectives."

The following topics will be expanded upon:

  • Advocacy initiatives for immunization financing
  • Innovative financing for immunization
  • Countries’ ability to mobilize sufficient internal public funds for immunization (national budget, local authorities, funds released by the debt relief initiatives)
  • Contributive capacity of community-level financing for immunization activities
  • Adequacy of health insurance organizations and companies for immunization
  • Contributions and prospects for bilateral, multilateral and private external financing
  • Immunization financing and health promotion

Participation is subject to the submission and acceptance of an oral abstract or poster related to one of the themes mentioned above that the candidate must present at the conference.

The deadline for abstract submission is January 8, 2012.
